Laser hair removal

The Light Sheer diode laser is a device of the latest generation. It has a safety and quality certificate issued by the US FDA which is respected by the most demanding countries of the world.

The patented Chill Tip has protective qualities for the epidermis, which assurres the patient a totally painless treatment.

Please click here and see a short film depicting how the LightSheer laser works.

Research performed in the USA unanimously reveal that the Light Sheer laser is the most effective device of this type for permanent hair removal.

Hirsuitism causes frustration not only in patients with hormonal disturbances but also in many healthy people. So there is an enormous interest in an effective method allowing permanent hair removals from various parts of the body. The only methods which have made it possible so far are electrolysis and thermolysis (electrocoagulation). These methods are painless and require multiple treatments because each hair has to be removed separately. Electrolysis and electrocoagulation may also lead to skin cicatrisation. The post-treatment hair regrowth rate is estimated at approx. 50%.

All other methods of hair removing, such as shaving, as well as various ways of pulling hair out and chemical depilators allow obtaining satisfactory results which, however, persist for only a few days or weeks.

Revolutionary laser hair removal has been developed as a method aimed at destroying only hair follicles without damaging the skin, as well as the method allowing a quick hair removal from larges areas of the body without the need to direct laser light to each follicle separately.

To be fully satisfied with the treatment performed, it is necessary to choose a proper laser.

Four different laser systems exist on Polish market. Their efficiencies vary signifantly.

  • Ruby laser – wavelength: 694 nm, applied energy: 10 to 60 J/cm2, impulse duration: 0.5 to 1 Hz, diameter of laser radiation on the skin: from 4 x 10 mm. A 20 to 60% reduction in regrowth is observed 12 weeks after one treatment.
  • Alexandrite laser – wavelength: 755 nm, applied energy: 25 to 40 J/cm2, impulse duration: 2 to 20 ms, diameter of laser radiation on the skin: from 5 x10 mm. An 80% reduction in regrowth is observed in the irradiated area three months after the treatment.
  • Diode laser – wavelength: 800 nm, applied energy: 40 to 60 j/cm2, impulse duration: 5 to 30 ms, diameter of laser radiation on the skin: 9 x 9mm. A 98% reduction in regrowth is observed in the irradiated area three months after the treatment.
  • Yag laser – wavelength: 1,064 nm, applied energy: 2.5 to 4 J/cm2, impulse duration: 15 to 50 ns, diameter of laser radiation on the skin: 7 mm. A 44 to 66% reduction in regrowth is observed after irradiation three months following the treatment.

According to Rox Anderson, the LightSheer diode laser is the most effective device of this type for permanent hair removal. The removal mechanism is similar to those which drive ruby and alexsandrite lasers. However, a longer wave (800 nm) of the diode laser is able to penetrate deeper into the epidermis. Histological research has revealed that the diode laser thermally destroys a follicle proportionately to its size and amount of pigmentary elements contained in it, causing its deterioration and atrophy.

The diode laser of the American company COHERENT is the most modern device for removing redundant hair. The company has been operating since 1966 and is the world’s leader in manufacturing of lasers that are used both in cosmetology and medicine.

The Laser Sheer TM Diode Laser System has a worldly respected safety and quality certificate issued by the U.S FDA (Food & Drug Administration).

The length of the wave emitted by the laser is 800 mm. The wave penerates into your skin to the depth of 2 mm, operating only superficially and without affecting your body’s functions. The laser emits a gentle beam of rays which penetrate into your skin as deep as to a hair follicle, irretrievably destroying its root.
It should be added that not all hair grows at the same time. A part of it is in the growth phase (the hair visible on your skin). This is the hair which reacts to laser light. The remaining hair is in the “narcosis” phase of various durations (3-8 weeks). The phase of active growth starts after this period and that is why treatments have to be repeated at least 3 times in order to remove nearly all hair. 40-60% of hair is removed during the first treatment and 92% after three. The remaining tiny percentage is fairer, more delicate and invisible hair.

Due to previous hair removals using wax, mechanical depilator, tweezers, etc., it may be needed to conduct the fourth and fifth treatment for better results.

Traditional methods of hair removing, i.e. shaving, pulling out with tweezers or wax give temporary results. The only method assuring a relatively permanent removal has so far been the electrolysis. Unfortunately, it is very painful and time-consuming. Moreoer, scars, discoloration, allergic reactions and hair growing into are frequent side effects of these methods of epilation.

The Laser Sheer TM Diode Laser System permanently removes undesired hair in a painless and non-invasive way, without damaging your skin.

The first treatment is preceded by an assessment of your skin’s condition and a laser test.

Every skin type reacts individually to a treatment performed. An erythema or a perifollicular oedema may surface. Red marks, tiny crusts or small discoloration marks should all vanish after a few days, though thay can persist for several weeks on exceptionally hypersensitive skin.

Contraindications to laser hair removal:

  • Pregnancy
  • Fresh tan (including tan acquired in a solarium - 5 weeks and by means of tanning foam or creams - 2 weeks).
  • Creams with retinol (stop applying 3 weeks before the treatment).
  • Light sensitizing medicines, retinoids.
  • Herbs (Saint-Jon’s-wort, marigold – stop using 2-3 weeks before the treatment).
  • Hair removal with wax and tweezers (stop 1 month before the treatment).
  • Leukoderma, psoriasis.
  • Peeling (stop applying 1 week before the treatment).

Pre-treatment procedure

1. The first treatment is preceded by a consultation (a laser test is made) – if the skin’s reaction is correct, the treatment may be performed 15 mins following the test. If there are any doubts, the treatment is performed after a few days.

2. Your skin should be shaved, washed and not smeared with anything before the treatment.

3. After tanning, the treatment may be performed only when the fresh tan has vanished.

4. Do not pull hair out at least 4 weeks before the treatment.

5. Do not apply hair removal creams 1 week before the treatment.

6. Do not use:

  • Sun-sensitizing medicines, e.g.: antibiotics – the treatment may be performed, at the earliest, two weeks since the therapy termination;
  • Saint-Jon’s-wort, marigold (observations as above);
  • Exfoliating cosmetics and medicines – minimum 1 week before the treatment;
  • Creams containing retinol, isotretinoin, fruit acids, vitamin C, etc., for at least 1 month before the treatment;
  • Slimming tea (e.g. Figura 2).

Rules to follow after a laser hair removal treatment:

Treatments should be repeated every 4-8 weeks (depending on body parts and individual characteristics). Significantly prolonged or shortened intervals between the treatments may lessen their effects.

1. Do not tun. Absolutely protect your skin against the sun for at least 2 weeks after the treatment.

2. Do not use:

  • Sun-sensitizing medicines;
  • Saint-Jon’s-wort, marigold;
  • Exfoliating cosmetics and medicines – minimum 2 weeks after the treatment;

3. For a few days after the treatment:

  • Do not use soap, spirit, alcohol-based tonics, deodorants, et.;
  • Do not irritate your skin in the area of the treatment;
  • Apply Alantan, Solcoseryl or Bepanten creams 2-3 times a day for 2-3 days;

4. Do not pull hair out for at least 6 weeks (face for at least 4 weeks).
